Microscopical Study on the Degradation of Cotton Fibres

Abstract

The fungal degradation of Indian cotton fibres was studied using microscopical methods. A correlation was found between alkali swelling properties and congo red absorption property of the degraded cotton fibres: The celluloytic activity of 33 cotton attacking fungi was determined.
