Abstract

Concepts of mounting add-on armour modules on battle tank are described. Selection of optimum mode of mounting is evaluated based on criterion function decision theory. Finding match very well with experimental observations.

S. N. Dikshit, Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Hyderabad

SN Dikshit graduated in Metallurgical Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Warangal, andjoined the Indian Army in 1971 in the Corps of EME. He obtained his masters degree in Mechariical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 1982. He joined Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Hyderabad, in 1983, where he is actively engaged in the design and developmenttof light-weight Kancha!J composite armour and explosives reactive armour for battle tanks. He has published several papers in international and national journals. He obtained his PhD from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, in 1994, on the study of ballistic performance of thick steel armour plates.
