Abstract

Man as an operator of machines has been a subject of study from three different angles: Engineering, Physiology and Applied Experiment Psychology. The different approaches of workers belonging to these three different branches of science have been briefly discussed in this article. The importance of studying the human operator, as a whole, in a generalised man-machine system has been pointed out.
