Abstract

The effects of the type of schooling and the medium of instruction on the various aspects of selection assessment have been studied. The results show that there is a difference in assessments for boys from different types of schools. Candidates from Sainik Schools are the best, followed by those from Public Schools, School with Compulsory English and lastly other School. The results after training, at the National Defence Academy were also considered to find out whether similar differences still persisted. It was found that the differences observed at the selection stage were not in evidence during training. It has been ensured that this cannot be attributed to the effects of selection.
