Stability Criteria of Projectile During Flight in Varying Density Atmosphere

AbstractStability of the projectile in a varying density atmosphere is investigated under general set up of aerodynamic forces and torques. For circular trajectories, necessary and sufficient stability criteria are developed. Relationship between stability and optimality is outlined. The results have been illustrated by numerical examples.
