Silicones are polymers in which the backbone of the molecule is built up from alternate silicone and oxygen atoms and differ in many respects from all the other polymers in which the molecule is based on carbon-carbon chain. The methods of manufacture of different types of silicone polymers, their properties and specific uses with special reference to Defence equipment are reviewed.Downloads
