Abstract

N-Octyl-2'hydroxy-5, 9-dimethyl-6, 7-benzomorphan (II)was synthesised from 3, 4-lutidine by a three step process. Only alpha-form could be isolated through acid cyclisation. Infrared and NMR spectra confirmed the structure II.
