Flow of an Incompressible Second-Order Fluid Past a Sphere
Keywords: Steady Axisymmetric, Incompressible Order Fluid, Meksyn's Method
AbstractThe steady axisymmetric flow of an incompressible second-order fluid past a sphere at rest is considered by the method of Blasius with a potential flow in the main stream. The first four terms of the series are obtained by Meksyn's method. The position of the separation ring is calculated for various values of the second-order parameters. The position of the separation ring for the Newtonian case agrees very nearly with that obtained by Schlichting who used exact values of the first four terms of the series. The effect of second-order parameters on the position of the separation ring is to advance it towards the forward stagnation point.
