Abstract

Intensive experimental work carried out, to study the effect of the length of a projectile on its ricochet behaviour has been reported. The work is pertinent for designing the bomb to be delivered by low altitude/high speed mode for destruction of runways. Scaled models have been used to conduct these studies and a relationship showing the variation of critical angle of no-ricochet with L/D ratio is evolved.
