Abstract

The problems associated with real-time software development are described and a design of real-time simulation environment (RTSE)to model real-time software architectures is presented. RTSE can be used to model software structure and can dynamically simulate the behaviour of multi-tasking, pre-emptive priority-based real-time software systems. RTSE can be used to identify RT software anomalies like deadlock, starvation, lockout, signal queuing, race conditions, etc with the help of RTSE Report Analyser. The modeller can fine tune his design by re-oriented the timing and system specification to remove anomalies and improve performance and reliability

K.R.S. Iyyengar, Naval Science & Technological Laboratory, Visakhapatnam
Mr KRS Iyyengar received his MSc (Tech) from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam and his MTech in Communication Systems from lIT, Delhi. He has undergone special training in Software Engineering at Pittsburg, USA. His areas of interest include knowledge engineering,
knowledge-based software engineering techniques, automatic program synthesis systems, and software reuse. He has about a dozen of papers published in leading national conferences. Presently he is a Scientist with Computer Centre, NSTL, Visakhapatnam.

Mr R Srinivasan Ji received his MSc in Comuter Science 'from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. His areas of interest include knowledge-based software engineering, software re-engineering, analysis, design of real-time systems, and formal/informal methods of software specification, verification and validation. Presently he is working in the Computer Centre,NSTL, Visakhapatnam.
