The results of flight path reconstruction using UD factorisation-based Kalman filtering algorithm are presented. The algorithm was implemented using PC-MATLAB functions and validated for simulated as well as real flight data. It is of considerable relevance to analysis of aircraft accident data and general flight data for aerospace vehicles.

Girija Gopalratnam, National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore
Mrs Girija Gopalratnam obtained her MSc (Physics) from Bangalore University in 1975. She joined National Aeronautical Laboratory in 1976. She was actively involved in the field of microprocessor - based system and singal processing . Since 1986 , She visited the Institute for Flight Mechanics, Braunscweig, West Germany as a guest Scientist . She has about 30 research papers and technical reports to her credit. Her main research interests include system , and application of numerically reliable algorithms for parameter/ state estimation to aerospace vehicles .
J. R. Raol, National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore
Dr J.R. Raol obtained BE and me in Electrical Engineering From MS University of Baroda in 1971 and 1973 respectively. He obtained his PhD from McMaster University, Hamilton Canada, in 1986. He is currently working as a Scientist at NAL, Bangalore. He has about 25 publication and an equal number of technical reports to his credit Recently Dr. Raol was Senior membership grade of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE),USA. HE is also a member of Aeronautical Society of India. His main research interests are: System Identification, stste /parameter estimation and Flight data analysis of aerospace vehicles.
