Impact of WhatsApp on LIS Professionals

Abstract

Socially Aware Computing is breaking the bricks of information communication. The emergence of Mobile phone/smart phone is helping to do so. Mobile phone/Smart phone is like magical tool which allows one to do anything like surfing to chatting to messaging to entertainment. The mobile phones are the genuine gift of the technological transformation and development to the present generation. WhatsApp messenger is one of the popular social networking tool among the students, professionals and households. Almost everyone is using to promote their business, products and services and even using it to manage their team. Library and Information professionals are not much for away with its acceptance. Empirical research one of the reasons to get real time responses of the contributors. To know LIS professional’s view point, online survey method is adopted. In this paper, I am also trying to understand at what extent LIS professionals are using WhatsApp messenger. The activities in which they have involved WhatsApp messenger,  It is also an effort to understand the impact of the WhatsApp messenger on LIS professionals.
