 | Design and Development of an Electrolytic Generation System for Prevention of fouling Sea Water Cooling System Author : Kalyanasundaram, N.;Ganti, S.S.;Agrawal, G.P Source : Defence Science Journal ; Vol:28(1) ; 1978 ; pp 1-4 Subject : 623.8 Naval Science Keywords : Sea Water Cooling System Abstract : Two designs of electrolytic chlorine generation system developed at this laboratory have been described in detail. The design of in situ electrolytic chlorine generation system was found successful controlling the fouling settlement in the sea water system on a war ship at the end of nine months intensive service trials. Another design is for universal application in sea water system both on shipping and industrial establishments. |
 | Resistance of Some Timbers of Andaman Islands Against Marine Borer Attack at Five Ports of India Author : Kalyanasundaram, N.;Ganti, S.S. Source : Defence Science Journal ; Vol:25(1) ; 1975 ; pp 41-43 Subject : 58 Botany Keywords : Pterocarpus dalbergeioides;Lagerstroemia hypoleuca;Pyinma Abstract : Six species of structural timbers grown in Andaman area have been examined for natural resistance to marine wood boring organisms at Bombay, Cochin, Goa, Visakhapatnam and Port Blair. Pterocarpus dalbergeioides(Andaman padauk), has been found to be one of the most suitable timbers comparable with teak in performance. Lagerstroemia hypoleuca(Pyinma), has shown a prolonged life and high degree of durability particularly at Bombay. Some important mechanical properties of these timbers have been compared with that of teak so that they may by considered as substitutes. |
