Abstract : In this paper two life testing procedures namely the progressively censored samples and Bartholomew's experiment have been discussed. The discussions are based on the assumption that the life of an item follows normal distribution such that the mean and standard deviation are different under two different conditions of usage of the item at regular intervals of time. The maximum likelihood estimates of the two parameters have been derived along with their variances.
