 | Fungi Encountered on Footwear and Defence Articles Author : Sharma, K.D. ;Sharma, O.P. Source : Defence Science Journal ; Vol:30(4) ; 1980 ; pp 167-170 Subject : 579 MicroBiology Keywords : Fungal species ;Mycoflora Abstract : A study of mycoflora on footwears and defence articles from Agra city was made. In all 38 fungi belonging to different genera were recorded. Out of these, 17 fungal species were isolated for the first on these articles. A new variety i.e., Aspergillus sydowii var. agraii Sharma and Sharma was also created. Species of Aspergillus, Penicillium, Paecilomyces, Drechslera, Alternaria, Fusarium and Trichoderma were found to be dominant in all the cases. Maximum species were recorded from gents footwear and books ankle in comparison to ladies footwear. All these fungi were grouped as (i) active (15 isolates), (ii)moderate (15 isolates) and (iii) slow leather deteriogens (8 isolates) on the basis of screening. |
 | Fungal Deterioration of Cotton Cordages in Soil Author : Srivastava, K.C. Source : Defence Science Journal ; Vol:30(3) ; 1980 ; pp 149-152 Subject : 579 MicroBiology Keywords : Cordage-attacking fungi ;Fungal species;Soil burial Abstract : Fungal degradation of cotton cordages was studies under soil burial conditions with soil moisture contents varying from 5 to 30 per cent. Maximum degradation was noticed in thinner cordages at 15.25 per cent soil moisture. Sixteen fungal species were isolated from soil buried cordages and their succession was studied. Half life period of cordages during soil contact condition was determined. The time of initiation of spore formation of cordage-attacking fungi was found between 48 to 168 hours. |
