Their absorption spectra have been recorded in the region 400 -900 nm. From observed absorption spectra,Judd Ofelt (J0), Omega/sub t/, parameters (t = 2, 4 and 6) have been computed. They have been used to calculate the laser parameters, viz., spontaneous emission probability (A), fluorescence branching ratio (Beeta) and stimulated emission cross-section (Sigma). They exhibit the suitability of the present glass specimen for laser action. The effects of composition and concentration of the dopant on these parameters have been discussed. A comparative study of stimulated emission cross-section of different types of doped glasses has also been made. |
