 | Distribution of mann and whitney and allied statistics for two state Markov chain Author : Iyer, P.V.Krishna;Ray, D. Source : Defence Science Journal ; Vol:14(3) ; 1964 ; pp 223-240 Subject : 519.2 Statistics Keywords : Allied statistics;Markov chain Abstract : In this paper the distribution of transitions separated by 0,1,2,..r observations and also of T3,T4,and Tn for a Markov Chain having two states a and b has been discussed. The power of these statistics for comparing the randomness of a binomial sequence against a Markov chain alternative wherein the asymptotic probabilities of the two states are the same for the null hypothesis Ho(which is possible only when the alternative hypothesis is a Markov chain)has been considered. The relative efficiencies the various statistics show that the tests based on ab transitions separated by NKr observations(when K is fraction)will in general be better than Mann and Whitney statistics for testing two samples where the distributions are not known. |
 | Renewal Theory Applications to Continuous Inspection of Markovian Production Processes Author : V.S., Sampath Kumar ;Shanmugasundaram, S. Source : Defence Science Journal ; Vol:41(3) ; 1991 ; pp 317-323 Subject : 519.8 Operations Research;51 Mathematics Keywords : Time homogeneous ;Iid Bernoulli ;Markov chain Abstract : Theory of renewal processes has been used to study the effectiveness of three continuous sampling schemes, when the quality of the successive units in a continuous production process follows a two-state time-homogeneous Markov chain model which comprises the iid Bernoulli model considered by Dodge. The average outgoing quality and operating characteristics functions have been formulated and some numerical results have been given when the serial correlation coefficient of the Markov chain is assumed to be known a priori. |
