Abstract : The advancement of computers and networking has provided and is providing a new means to support learning in a more personalized, flexible, portable and on demand. In last decade the commercialization has occurred in the field of education, and knowledge–based economy has increased a lot. The innovative and new ways of delivering education have surfaced causing some dramatic changes in learning technology and organisations. E-learning or electronic learning is one such process that is gaining momentum at a very fast pace. In this paper analysis has been done to find the positive and negative impacts of e-learning. The days of the traditional classroom are far from over; e-learning is going to become a powerful supplement to traditional teaching methods, not replace it entirely.

Abstract : In the time span of just a few years, wireless networking has emerged from a novelty to revolution. The speed with which wireless networking has caught on is not surprising owing to large bandwidth and range of several hundred feet. Moreover multiple wireless access points can be easily installed on same network to cover more areas. Our main challenge in design of these networks is their exposure to security attacks. Routing protocols for wireless networks are still an active research area. There is no single standard routing protocol. Therefore we aim to consider common security threats into account to provide guidelines to secure routing protocols. In this paper a study has been carried out for the threats on wireless networks and security goals to be achieved.

| || A model curriculum for security aspects in IT education

Abstract : Security has become a primary concern in order to provide protected data transfer in all networking environments. An internetwork security-teaching laboratory course, which includes both defensive and offensive security laboratory experimentation, is proposed here. This proposed laboratory will be oriented towards an introductory internetworking security class and is intended to complement more theoretical network security classes while motivating student interests and industry needs. The laboratory will be unique in that it uses an isolated laboratory network that attempts to represent the internet as closely as possible to typical educational laboratories which use only a few physical computers with virtual machines. It is also suggested that all of the laboratory assignments should be made available on internet for general community use and modification. General community expects solution from trained IT-professionals with respect to planning, configuration, implementation and maintenance of secure system for data transmission. Proposed study is an attempt in that direction.

Abstract : In this review we have tried to represent knowledge about wireless media, which is fast emerging as a new area in the field of computer science. Wireless networks are emerging fast as latest technology, to allow users to access information and services via electronic media, without taking geographic position in account. Mobile hosts and wireless networking hardware are becoming widely available, and extensive work has been done recently in integrating these elements into traditional networks such as the Internet. We have tried to present the basic knowledge required for a layman to know about Wireless media starting from History to most current trends and trends still to come. This effort is a part of research work by authors in mobile computing. The review is divided into four parts as history, evolution of cellular networks, wireless devices and types of wireless media. A tabular representation based on comparative study is shown for wireless media attributes such as frequency range, cost, installation, bandwidth and node capacity, etc.
